Homer calls Hermione the lovely, Aphrodite-like child after whose birth the gods granted Helen no more offspring. Menelaus sends her from Sparta to the son of Achilles in fulfillment of a pledge made at Troy.2
Apollodorus says Helen left nine-year-old Hermione behind when she departed with Paris. After Troy, Neoptolemus carried her off during Orestes' madness and was killed by Orestes at Delphi.3
Orestes married Hermione and fathered Tisamenus. Pausanias makes that son the legitimate successor to Orestes' combined Spartan and Argive power.4⚖
