Perseus⚖
Having accidentally killed his grandfather Acrisius, he exchanged kingdoms with Megapenthes — taking Tiryns and founding walled Mycenae with the Cyclopes. Hyginus instead has Megapenthes murder him to avenge Proetus.1
Sthenelus
Son of Perseus; succeeded at Mycenae and Tiryns after his father went down to Megara. Father of Eurystheus, whom Hera's stratagem kept from the womb until after Heracles was born.2
Eurystheus
Son of Sthenelus and Nicippe; Hera's chosen lord of Mycenae, who set Heracles his labours and later perished when the Heraclids invaded the Peloponnese — the last Perseid on the throne.3
Thyestes
Son of Pelops; when the Perseid line failed he won Mycenae by producing the golden lamb Aerope had stolen for him — the first turn of the Pelopid curse after Myrtilus' death. Atreus later recovered the kingdom when Zeus reversed the sun.4
Atreus
Brother of Thyestes; recovered Mycenae from his rival, murdered Thyestes' sons at the altar, and served them at the accursed banquet — the feud whose pollution the Atreids inherit.5
Agamemnon
Son of Atreus and Aerope in Homer and Apollodorus — lord of many-islanded Mycenae, from whose citadel the Achaeans sailed against Troy with the sceptre Hephaestus made for Pelops.6
Aegisthus
Son of Thyestes; while Agamemnon was at Troy he seduced Clytemnestra and, on the king's return, murdered him — ruling Mycenae for seven years until Orestes came home.7
Orestes
Son of Agamemnon; avenged his father by killing Aegisthus and Clytemnestra, was purified at Athens, and restored to his father's throne at Mycenae while also seizing Argos and Sparta.8
