A Nereid daughter of Nereus and Doris named in Homer among the sea-sisters who surround Thetis in grief — not to be merged with Iphianassa or other mortal Ianassa-forms in the epic.1
Homer gathers the daughters of Nereus when Thetis mourns: among those he names in the bright cave are Clymene and Ianeira and Ianassa, Maera and Orithyia and fair-tressed Amatheia, beating their breasts together at the silver-footed goddess' lead.2
Agamemnon's daughter appears elsewhere as Iphianassa, and other Ianassa-spellings attach to mortal women — but this Ianassa is strictly the Nereid of Iliad 18. No further episode attaches to her in the seven lenses of this atlas.3
