Aeolid whom Apollodorus makes king over Boeotia; Pausanias settles him on the Athamantian Plain by the Copaic Lake and Mount Laphystius in Orchomenian country — regional power beside the Andreus city-succession, not the Arcadian Orchomenus.1
Andreus
Son of the river Peneius; first settler of the land afterward called Andreis, the opening of Pausanias' Boeotian Orchomenus king-list.2
Eteocles
Son of Andreus by Euippe (or, locally, of the Cephisus); kept the land-name Andreis and founded two tribes — not the Theban son of Oedipus.3
Phlegyas
Son of Ares by Chryse daughter of Almus; took the throne when Eteocles died childless and renamed the country Phlegyantis.4
Chryses
Son of Poseidon by Chrysogeneia daughter of Almus; succeeded the childless Phlegyas and begot Minyas — not Chryses the priest of Apollo at Chryse.5
Minyas⚖
King who built the treasury and begot Orchomenus the eponym; Apollonius makes him son of Aeolus instead (Arg. 3.1077).6
Orchomenus
Son of Minyas in whose reign the city took its name; the people kept the name Minyans to distinguish them from the Arcadian Orchomenians. Died childless — not the Thyestes-son banquet victim (`orchomenus`), nor Lycaon's Arcadian eponym.7
Amphion
Son of Iasus who once ruled mightily in Orchomenus of the Minyae — Homer's Minyan king and father of Chloris; outside Pausanias' Andreus–Minyas–Clymenus succession, and not the Theban wall-builder.8
Clymenus
Son of Presbon son of Phrixus; inherited when Orchomenus died childless. Wounded at Onchestus by a Theban charioteer — the grievance that set Erginus' tribute on Thebes.9
Erginus⚖
Son of Clymenus, who sent heralds to Thebes for the tribute until Heracles routed the Minyans — slain in Apollodorus, spared to rebuild and father Trophonius and Agamedes in Pausanias.10
Ascalaphus & Ialmenus
After Trophonius was swallowed in the Lebadeian grove, Pausanias says the kingdom passed to the sons of Ares and Astyoche — the same pair Homer leads to Troy from Orchomenus and Aspledon.11
