Homer names Ialmenus with Ascalaphus as leader of the Minyans who dwelt in Aspledon and Orchomenus of the Minyae, sons of Ares whom Astyoche bore in Actor's palace. Thirty hollow ships ranged with them in the muster at Ilios. When the Achaeans kept watch in the camp, Ialmenus went forth in harness with Ascalaphus, Thrasymedes, Meriones, Aphareus, Deïpyrus, and Lycomedes — seven captains, each with a hundred spearmen.2
