King of Larissa in the Pelasgian land who held athletic games for his dead father when Perseus' quoit struck Acrisius on the foot and fulfilled the oracle — distinct from Teutamus (`teutamus-pelasgian`), the Pelasgian father of Lethus in Homer's Trojan catalogue.1
When Acrisius learned that Perseus was alive and coming to Argos, he fled to the Pelasgian land in dread of the oracle. There Teutamides, king of Larissa, was holding athletic games in honour of his dead father. Perseus came to compete, engaged in the pentathlon, and in throwing the discus struck Acrisius on the foot and killed him instantly — the prophecy fulfilled by accident at a Thessalian king's funeral contest.2
