One of the fifty daughters of Danaus by Europe — by lot the bride of Daiphron son of Egyptus by Argyphia when the Europe maidens were allotted at Argos; distinct from Daiphron son of Hephaestine, who drew Adiante among the Herse maidens.1

Apollodorus lists Scaea last among the four daughters of Danaus borne on Europe. When Busiris, Enceladus, Lycus, and Daiphron cast lots for Automate, Amymone, Agave, and Scaea, Daiphron drew Scaea. On the wedding night she received her father's dagger and, like her sisters, slew her bridegroom — Hyginus counts her among the brides who obeyed Danaus.2
