Nestor's muster-roll names Pyraechmes captain of the Paeonians from afar, out of Amydon by the fairest-flowing Axius. Apollodorus counts him among the allies who joined the Trojans after nine years of siege.2
When Patroclus stormed the Trojans back from the ships, he cast his bright spear into the thickest throng beside the stern of great-souled Protesilaus' vessel and smote Pyraechmes on the right shoulder; backward in the dust he fell with a groan, and his Paeonians were driven in rout.3
