Hesiod numbers Neso among the late names in the Nereid roll — after Psamathe of charming figure and divine Menippe, before Eupompe, Themisto, Pronoe and Nemertes who has the nature of her deathless father.2

Apollodorus repeats Neso in the Bibliotheca's long catalogue of daughters born to Nereus and Doris. No marriage, child or cult tale attaches to her in the seven lenses of this atlas; she remains an honestly marked list-node.3
