Libya was born in Egypt to King Epaphus and his wife Memphis. The vast lands west of Egypt were named in her honor.2

She was beloved by the sea god Poseidon and bore him twin sons: Belus, who remained in Egypt, and Agenor, who traveled to Phoenicia and became the ancestor of Cadmus and Europa.3
