Iphiclus was a Pleuronian prince of Aetolian myth, a son of King Thestius. He is counted among the Argonauts and was a participant in the hunt for the Calydonian Boar. As a brother of Althaea, he was a maternal uncle of the hero Meleager. He is to be distinguished from the several other figures of Greek mythology who bear the name Iphiclus.

I.Family
Iphiclus was a Pleuronian prince, the son of King Thestius. His mother is given variously as Laophonte, Leucippe, Deidameia or Eurythemis, depending on the source.
Among his siblings were Althaea, Leda, Hypermnestra, Evippus, Plexippus and Eurypylus. Through his sister Althaea — wife of Oeneus of Calydon — he was the maternal uncle of the hero Meleager.
II.Mythology
Iphiclus was numbered among the Argonauts, the band of heroes who sailed with Jason aboard the Argo in the quest for the Golden Fleece.
He also took part in the hunt for the Calydonian Boar, the great beast sent by Artemis against the land of his brother-in-law Oeneus. According to this account he was killed during the affair by Meleager.
III.Other figures named Iphiclus
Several distinct characters of Greek mythology share the name Iphiclus, and the Thestiad is one of them. The name is also given as another name for Iphicles, the son of Alcmene and Amphitryon and twin half-brother of Heracles.
It likewise belongs to a Phylacean prince, son of King Phylacus of Phylace and Clymene and father of Protesilaus and Podarces; and to a Cretan prince, son of King Idomeneus and Meda. Care should be taken not to conflate these homonyms with the son of Thestius.
