In Greek mythology, Hippothoe (Ancient Greek Ἱπποθόη, "swift as a mare") is daughter of Mestor son of Perseus and of Lysidice daughter of Pelops. Poseidon abducts her to the Echinades and begets Taphius, founder of Taphos and ancestor of the Taphian/Teleboan raiders. Distinct from the Nereid Hippothoe, the Danaid, the Peliad, and the Amazon of that name.

I.Perseid–Pelopid daughter
Apollodorus names Hippothoe as the child Mestor begets on Lysidice at Mycenae — a marriage that ties the Perseids to Pelops' house. Through her the Taphian line descends from both Perseus and Pelops.
Poseidon carries her from her family to the Echinadian Islands, lies with her, and fathers Taphius, who colonizes Taphos and names his people Teleboans (or Taphians).
II.Mother of the Taphians
Taphius' son Pterelaus (with the golden hair of immortality) later wars with Electryon and Amphitryon — the cattle-raid that frames Heracles' Theban birth. Hippothoe stands at the root of that western-island feud.
The atlas id hippothoe-mestor is Mestor's daughter alone — not hippothoe-pelias (a Peliad), not the Nereid, not the Danaid bride of Obrimus, and not the Amazon slain at Troy.
