Second among the nine legitimate sons Electryon begot upon Anaxo at Mycenae — slain with his brothers when they met the sons of Pterelaus defending the stolen cattle, before Amphitryon ransomed the herds and the accidental death of Electryon opened the throne to Sthenelus.1
In Apollodorus' catalogue of Electryon's house Stratobates and Gorgophonus stand first and second among the nine sons born to Anaxo — before Phylonomus, Celaeneus, Amphimachus, Lysinomus, Chirimachus, Anactor, and Archelaus. Not to be confused with Amphimachus the Epeian captain at Troy or Amphimachus among Penelope's suitors.2
The Taphian raid ended the male legitimate line at a stroke: Electryon's sons challenged the sons of Pterelaus and the two broods slew one another. Only Licymnius, Electryon's bastard by the Phrygian Midea, survived among the king's sons — and through Alcmena the daughter, the Perseid line passed toward Heracles.3
