In Greek mythology, Amphilochus was an Argive hero and seer, son of Amphiaraus and Eriphyle, brother of Alcmaeon, and one of the Epigoni. Later tradition settles him in Amphilochia or at Cilician oracles (Mallus, Colophon) and sometimes conflates him with his nephew of the same name, Alcmaeon's son by Manto.

I.Epigoni and the house of Amphiaraus
Homer and Apollodorus count Amphilochus among Amphiaraus' sons by Eriphyle. When Polynices' bribe of Harmonia's necklace forced Amphiaraus into the first Theban war, the seer charged his sons to avenge him. Zeus swallowed Amphiaraus alive at Thebes; Alcmaeon led the Epigoni, slew Eriphyle, and went into exile. Pausanias saw Amphilochus' statue among the Epigoni at Argos. Some catalogues also list him among Helen's suitors.
A parallel genealogy makes a second Amphilochus son of Alcmaeon and Manto, reared at Corinth by Creon—stories that ancient and modern writers often fold into one figure.
II.Colonies, oracles, and death
After Troy, Apollodorus has him leave the fleet by land with Calchas and die or be buried in the Colophon region; other tales settle him on the Ambracian Gulf (Amphilochia and Amphilochian Argos) or credit him with founding Mallus in Cilicia and Posideium on the Syrian-Cilician border. Herodotus and Arrian preserve the eastern foundations.
Rivalry with the seer Mopsus ends in mutual slaughter in one strand, or Apollo kills him in another—details also told of the nephew. The atlas id amphilochus is the Amphiaraus son; the Alcmaeon–Manto child remains a noted double, not a separate file.
