Orus
First king in the Troezenian foundation tale — the land called Oraea after him. Pausanias flags the name as Egyptian and un-Greek, but records the local claim.1
Althepus
Son of Poseidon and Leis, daughter of Orus; inherited the kingdom and named the land Althepia. Credited with setting up Demeter Thesmophoros above Poseidon Phytalmios.2
Saron
Succeeded Althepus; built the sanctuary of Saronian Artemis by the Phoebaean lagoon and gave his name to the Saronic Gulf after drowning in the chase of a doe.3
Hyperes & Anthas
Sons of Poseidon and Alcyone, daughter of Atlas — the next named kings after a forgotten stretch. They founded Hyperea and Anthea in the territory that later became Troezen.4
Aetius
Son of Anthas; inherited the kingdoms of his father and of his uncle Hyperes, and renamed one city Poseidonias. Distinct from the later Halicarnassian colonists Pausanias calls descendants of this Aetius.5
Troezen, Pittheus & Aetius
The sons of Pelops — Troezen and Pittheus — arrived and shared the kingship with Aetius, three kings instead of one, though the Pelopids held the balance of power.6
Pittheus
After Troezen died, Pittheus alone gathered Hyperea and Anthea into one city and named it Troezen after his brother. Apollodorus keeps him as the wise king with whom Aegeus lodged — grandfather and tutor of Theseus, birthplace of the Athenian hero.7
