I

Rhadamanthus

In the Cretan account, father of the eponym Gortys; Apollodorus has him legislate for the islands before his exile to Boeotia. Tegeans instead derive Gortys from Tegeates.1

II

Gortys

Eponym of Gortyna — son of Rhadamanthys in Cretan tradition, or a migrating son of Tegeates in the Tegean story that also names Cydonia and Catreus from his brothers.2

III

Idomeneus

Homeric captain of the Cretans who held Cnosus and Gortys among the hundred cities — listed here as the epic lord of wall-famed Gortys, not a Knossos-only succession dump.3
