Born to Europa and raised by King Asterius, Rhadamanthus was driven out of Crete by his jealous brother Minos. He settled in the islands of the Aegean, where he established a reputation as a flawlessly just lawmaker.2

Because of his absolute integrity in life, the gods made him one of the three judges of the dead in the Underworld, alongside his brother Minos and his half-brother Aeacus. He was also destined to dwell forever in the blissful Elysian Fields.3
