Silenus was a rustic god or satyr companion of Dionysus, often depicted as drunken and prophetic. Apollodorus names him father of the centaur Pholus by a Melian nymph.

Pholus, host of Heracles on the Erymanthian boar quest, was son of Silenus according to Apollodorus.
Ovid shows Silenus in Dionysus' retinue and as captive of the Phrygians who brought him to Midas.
