Pylaeus (Ancient Greek: Πύλαιος) is co-captain, with his brother Hippothous, of the Pelasgian contingent from deep-soiled Larisa in Homer's Trojan Catalogue. Both are sons of Lethus son of Teutamides, a Pelasgian line. He is rarely named apart from his brother; Dictys has the pair fall together.

I.Pelasgian command
Iliad 2.840–843 names Hippothous and Pylaeus, sons of Pelasgian Lethus, leaders of the spear-raging Pelasgi who dwelt in Larisa. Homer scarcely returns to Pylaeus alone; Dictys Cretensis and Ausonius treat the brothers as a pair who fall and are buried together.
Strabo records a Lesbian local tradition that Pylaeus also commanded a Lesbian force and gave his name to a mountain on the island. Pylaios is likewise an epithet of Hermes as psychopomp — unrelated to this mortal captain.

This atlas entry (pylaeus-pelasgian) is the Catalogue Pelasgian alone. His brother is hippothous-pelasgian; their ancestor Pelasgus is kept distinct from other Pelasgus eponyms.
