Gold-crowned Titan daughter of Uranus and Gaia, consort of Coeus and mother of Leto and Asteria, linking the elder gods to Apollo, Artemis and Hecate.1
I
Gaia bore gold-crowned Phoebe to starry Uranus among the Titan daughters, after Mnemosyne and before lovely Tethys. Pseudo-Apollodorus likewise places Phoebe among the Titanides born from Earth and Sky.2
II
Phoebe came to the desired embrace of Coeus and bore dark-gowned Leto, mild from the beginning and gentlest in Olympus, together with Asteria of happy name. Through Leto she became grandmother of Apollo and Artemis; through Asteria and Perses, grandmother of Hecate.3
