Opheltes (Ancient Greek: Ὀφέλτης) son of Peneleos stands in Pausanias' closing Theban king-list as father of Damasichthon. Through him the Boeotian captain's line returns to the Cadmeia after Autesion's departure. He is strictly distinct from Opheltes/Archemorus of Nemea, the infant whose death founded the Nemean Games.

I.Peneleid succession
Pausanias records that Peneleos left a son Opheltes, whose own son Damasichthon succeeded Autesion son of Tisamenus as ruler over Thebes. The notice is genealogical rather than narrative — Opheltes bridges the Trojan-generation Boeotian leader to the later Theban kings.
Ptolemy son of Damasichthon and Xanthus son of Ptolemy continue that line until sole kingship ends at seven-gated Thebes.
II.Homonyms
