In Greek mythology, Coresus (Ancient Greek Κόρησος) is an autochthon who, with Ephesus son of the river Cayster, founded the sanctuary of Artemis at Ephesus. Pausanias corrects Pindar's Amazon foundation claim and credits this aboriginal pair instead.

I.Founder of the Ephesian shrine
Pausanias (7.2.7) rejects Pindar's story that Amazons founded the temple during their campaign against Athens. The sanctuary, he says, was founded by Coresus an aboriginal and Ephesus, from whom the city took its name; Amazon women from the Thermodon knew and sacrificed at the shrine from of old, but did not establish it.

Wikipedia's Coresus page also tells the Calydonian priest of Dionysus who loved Callirhoë and slew himself at the altar rather than sacrifice her — a separate famous tale. The atlas id coresus-ephesus is the Ephesian autochthon alone.
