In Greek mythology, Coeranus (Ancient Greek Κοίρανος) of Lyctus in Crete is the charioteer and squire of Meriones. In the Iliad Hector, casting at Idomeneus, strikes Coeranus instead and kills the comrade who had come to turn the horses.

I.Meriones' Cretan squire
Homer (Iliad 17.610–619; cf. 5.165 context for Meriones' circle) has Hector's spear miss Idomeneus and strike Coeranus, Meriones' comrade and charioteer from well-built Lyctus. Wikipedia's Coeranus (mythology) page lists this Cretan entry distinctly from the Lycian Coeranus slain by Odysseus.
The same page also covers Argive Melampodid Coerani (father and grandson around Polyeidos) — different figures.
II.Homonym care
The atlas id coeranus-lyctian is Meriones' charioteer alone — not coeranus-lycian (Sarpedon's host) or the Melampodid seers.
