Galaxy/The codex of Areius

Despot who ruled Teuthrania on the Caicus when Pergamus son of Neoptolemus crossed into Asia; he fought the newcomer in single combat for the kingdom and was slain, yielding the seat that Pergamus renamed after himself.1

I

Pausanias records only the end of his reign: when Pergamus, youngest son of Neoptolemus and Andromache, came oversea into the old Mysian land still called Teuthrania, Areius met him in single combat for the kingship and fell — the last lord of the plain before the city took its eponym from the victor.2
