In Greek mythology, Alector (Ancient Greek Ἀλέκτωρ) refers to several men. The atlas node alector-anaxagoras is the Argive son of Anaxagoras and father of King Iphis — the native third of Argos that outlasted the Melampid and Biantid shares after the kingdom was divided in three.

Apollodorus and Pausanias place Alector in the Proetid native third: son of Anaxagoras, father of Iphis of Argos. Through him the Megapenthes line continues after Melampus and Bias receive their shares of the divided kingdom.
Homonym care: not the Boeotian Alectryon/Alector father of Leitus (alectryon-boeotian); not the Elean prince who summons Phorbas; not the Spartan Alector son of Argeus. The atlas id is the Argive Anaxagorid alone.
