In Greek mythology, Agenor (Ancient Greek Ἀγήνωρ, "heroic, manly") is a name shared by many figures. The atlas node agenor-argive is the early Argive king — son of Triopas (or, in rival stemmata, of Ecbasus or Phoroneus) and brother of Iasus — whose line through Crotopus holds Argos until Danaus interrupts the native succession.

I.Argive king before Danaus
Pausanias' native Argive succession places Agenor as son of Triopas and brother of Iasus, father of Crotopus. Through Crotopus the house continues until Danaus arrives from Egypt and the older native line yields the kingdom — a local stemma kept distinct from the famous Phoenician Agenor of Tyre.
Homonym guard: not Agenor of Tyre (father of Europa and Cadmus); not Agenor son of Phegeus who helps murder Alcmaeon (agenor-psophis); not Antenor's Trojan son; not the Dulichian or Zacynthian suitors. The atlas id is the Argive royal father of Crotopus alone.
