I
Zacynthus
Eponymous founder — son of Dardanus, a Psophidian who first sailed to the island; the Zacynthian acropolis kept the name Psophis after his homeland. Not the Trojan Dardanus of the Idaean line, and no later Zacynthian royal succession is attested in our sources.1
II
Odysseus
Homeric captain of the Cephallenians who held wooded Zacynthus among the western isles — lordship from Ithaca's house, not a local Zacynthian dynasty. The island's princes appear only as suitors of Penelope, never as a king-list.2
