I
Ceyx
Sole named mythic king of Malian Trachis in the atlas lenses. Ovid has him reign without violence, receive the exiled Peleus, and drown sailing for Claros; Pausanias calls him friend and king of Trachis when Heracles fled Eurystheus, and the king who sent the Heraclids on to Athens; Apollodorus repeatedly places Heracles and the Heraclids with Ceyx at Trachis without a Trachinian king-list beyond him. Homer names Trachis in Achilles' muster (Il. 2.682) but names no separate Trachinian throne.1
