The Sibyl of Cumae
No mythic king-list in the seven lenses. The long-lived Sibyl of Cumae's marshy shore guided Trojan Aeneas to Avernus; Pausanias records Hyperochus of Cumae on Demo and the Sibyl's bones in Apollo's sanctuary; Hyginus lists the Samian/Cymaean Sibyl among the augurs. Daedalus' temple-landing at Cumae is Vergilian (outside corpus); Apollodorus Epit. 1.13 and Ovid Met. 8.400–558 send the craftsman to Sicily (Camicus/Cocalus), not Cumae.1
