King of Ethiopia when Perseus found Andromeda exposed to the sea-monster. Hyginus makes him son of Phoenix. Not the Tegean Argonaut Cepheus son of Aleus. Separate from Memnon's Ethiopian kingship (Hesiod).1
Cassiopeia
Queen consort of Cepheus — not a solo succession step. Her boast against the Nereids brought Poseidon's flood and the monster; the lenses name her wife and mother, not an independent reigning queen.2
Andromeda
Not a reigning queen of Aethiopia — Cepheus' daughter, the bride Perseus won and took to Greece (Mycenae). Kept here as the royal hinge through which Perses stays behind.3
Perses
Firstborn of Perseus and Andromeda, left with Cepheus before the return to Greece; from him the kings of Persia are said to descend. Apollodorus does not style him 'king of Ethiopia' — the stay-behind heir, not the Titan Perses nor Perses of Colchis.4
