Aeacus

Son of Zeus by the nymph Aegina and sole named king of the island in Aeginetan tradition — Pausanias says the Aeginetans can mention no king but Aeacus, for none of his sons stayed. He received the people Zeus raised from ants (the Myrmidons), fathered Peleus and Telamon by Endeis and Phocus by Psamathe, and after Phocus' murder drove the sons of Endeis as fugitives from Aegina (Telamon to Salamis, Peleus to Phthia). Homer attests the Aeacid stemma (Peleus son of Aeacus; Achilles his grandson) but places the later house in Phthia and Salamis, not on the island throne.
