In Ovid's telling of Helios' loves, the Sun forgot Clymene, Rhodos, and Persa mother of Circe, and all the rest for Leucothoe — yet the island that bears Rhodos' name kept the god's favour as the beloved land of Helios in later tradition.2

The genealogist sets her within the sea-god's house: Poseidon wedded Amphitrite, daughter of Ocean, and to them were born Triton and Rhode, who was married to the Sun — the island eponym linked to Helios through that union.3
