In Apollodorus' post-Homeric continuation, the son whom Odysseus begot on Callidice queen of the Thesprotians and left to inherit the kingdom when Callidice died — not to be confused with Polypoetes the Dulichian suitor (Epitome 7.27) or Polypoetes son of Peirithous at Troy.1

Apollodorus reports that Callidice bore Odysseus a son Polypoetes while the king of Ithaca reigned among the Thesprotians. When Callidice died, Odysseus handed the kingdom to this son and repaired to Ithaca.2⚖
