Apollodorus names Polymede, daughter of Autolycus, as the woman by whom Aeson, son of Cretheus, begat Jason. The thief's line thus branches: Anticleia bore Odysseus to Laertes, and Polymede bore the man of the single sandal to Aeson — two heroes linked through the same grandfather's craft.2⚖
