Phaenops (Ancient Greek: Φαῖνοψ, "bright-eyed") son of Asius son of Hyrtacus is Hector's dearest guest-friend at Abydus. In Iliad 17 Apollo assumes his likeness to urge Hector back against Ajax over Patroclus. He is distinct from Phaenops father of Xanthus and Thoön and from Phaenops father of the Phrygian Phorcys.

Homer makes Phaenops son of Asius a resident of Abydus and the best of Hector's guest-friends. When the fight over Patroclus turns, Apollo draws near Hector in Phaenops' likeness and spurs him against Telamonian Ajax.
