Danaan whom Achilles sent with Nestor's sons, Meges, Thoas, Meriones, and `lycomedes-creonid` to fetch the seven tripods and other gifts from Agamemnon's hut when the son of Peleus renounced his wrath — distinct from the Trojan Melanippus figures (`melanippus-trojan`, `melanippus-hicetaonid`, `melanippus-patroclus-roll`).1
When Achilles declared he would arm for war though Hector still held Patroclus' body, he took to him the sons of glorious Nestor, and Meges son of Phyleus, and Thoas and Meriones and Lycomedes son of Creon, and Melanippus; and they went their way to the hut of Agamemnon. Then straightway in one moment was the word said and the deed fulfilled: seven tripods bare they from the hut, even as he had promised, and twenty gleaming cauldrons and twelve horses.2
Homer names this Melanippus only among Achilles' messengers at Troy with no home polis — distinct from the Trojan Melanippus figures. Residence stays deferred.3
