The Bibliotheca preserves Labdacus' short reign: the Cadmeid grandson who loses a border war with Athens and, like Pentheus, dies for slighting Dionysus — the thin ancient dossier behind the dynasty name.

Almost never painted in his own right, Labdacus survives as the eponym between Cadmus and Laius — the Theban king whose name marks the cursed house rather than a visual tradition.
