Galaxy/The codex of Ilus

Son of Dardanus who died childless, so his brother Erichthonius succeeded to the kingdom in Apollodorus' account.1

I

Dardanus had sons born to him, Ilus and Erichthonius, of whom Ilus died childless, and Erichthonius succeeded to the kingdom and married Astyoche, daughter of Simoeis, and begat Tros.2

II

Homer compresses the line: Dardanus begat Erichthonius directly, with no intervening childless son; and the Ilus honored in the Iliad as founder with a barrow on the plain is elsewhere son of Tros.3
