Son of Ocytus who led twenty-two ships of the Aenianians to Troy and, after the scatter at Caphereus, went to Libya and dwelt by the Cinyps river — distinct from Guneus father of Laonome in the Perseid genealogy of Alcaeus.1
Apollodorus counts Guneus son of Ocytus among the captains of the Trojan muster, commander of twenty-two ships of the Aenianians beside Philoctetes, Podalirius, and the rest of the Catalogue.2
After Troy fell, of those shipwrecked at Caphereus some drifted one way and some another. Guneus went to Libya; Apollodorus and the scholiasts add that he left his own ships, came to the Cinyps river in Libya, and dwelt there — a plain settlement in the Epitome's roll of the lesser Returns.3
Pausanias, listing those who came with Guneus, makes the river Titaresius receive its water from the Styx — anchoring the Aenianian captain in Thessalian geography distinct from the Guneus whom Alcaeus' genealogy knows as father of Laonome of Pheneus.4
