One of the fifty-seven suitors from Dulichium in Apollodorus' island roll — one of the boldest suitors remaining when the bow had cut down the rest — urged on by Agelaus in the final spear-fight, until Odysseus smote him and he bit the vast floor with the others at one moment.1
When Athena sat on the roof-beam in the guise of a swallow, the wooers were urged on by Agelaus, Eurynomus, Amphimedon, Demoptolemus, Peisander son of Polyctor, and wise Polybus — in valiance the best of all who still lived and fought for their lives.2
They hurled their sharp spears with sure aim, but Odysseus smote Demoptolemus, Telemachus Euryades, the swineherd Elatus, and the herdsmen slew Peisander — so these all at the same moment fell, and the wooers drew back to the innermost part of the hall.3
Apollodorus lists Demoptolemus among the suitors who came against Odysseus' house.4
