Homer knows him only as the father of Agelaus, who answered Telemachus with seeming fairness when the wooers were rebuked for abusing the stranger — Agelaus son of Damastor urging the hall to cease its shameful conduct, though he still pressed the marriage.2

Apollodorus names Damastor among the suitors who devoured Odysseus' substance, listed after Meneptolemus and before Bias in the long company of Penelope's wooers.3
