Hesiod gives Cymodoce her one distinguishing deed in the catalogue itself: she, with Cymatolege and Amphitrite, easily calms the waves upon the misty sea and the blasts of raging winds. She stands in the Theogony roll beside Panopea, comely Galatea, Hippothoe and Hipponoe.2
Homer shows her among the Nereids who throng the bright cave when Thetis grieves — Glauce, Thalia, Cymodoce, Nesaea and Speio among the named sisters. No marriage, child or local cult tale attaches to her beyond these list-roles in our sources.3
