Alcyone is one of the Pleiades in Greek mythology, a daughter of Atlas and Pleione born at Cyllene in Arcadia. Poseidon lay with her and she bore Hyrieus, Hyperenor, and Aethusa. She must be distinguished from Alcyone daughter of Aeolus, wife of Ceyx.

I.Mythology
Apollodorus lists Alcyone among the seven Pleiades and reports that Poseidon had intercourse with her after Celaeno, begetting Hyrieus and other offspring (Bibliotheca 3.10.1).
Pausanias describes Poseidon carrying off Alcyone on the throne of Pelops at Amyclae (Description of Greece 3.18.10).
